Outlook 2003 Email Setup for Bigpond and Optusnet Users

These steps and settings will help you to setup Outlook 2003 to receive mail from your email account with Basic Data Solutions if your ISP is Bigpond or Optusnet, or your ISP doesn't allow you to send email using another account.

Note:

  • POP3 server settings apply only to email accounts with Basic Data Solutions.
  • Replace [username] with your own username, and [domain] with your own domain name. For example, jane.doe@mysite.com.au.
1. Click the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts ...
2. Select the first option Add a new e-mail account and click Next >
3. Select POP3 and click Next >
4. Enter the relevant information:
Your Name: The name you would like displayed to the recipient as the sender of the email
E-mail address: [username]@[domain]
Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.basicdatasolutions.com.au
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Use your ISP's SMTP, eg, mail.bigpond.com
Username: [username]@[domain]
Password: Your password
5. Click on More Settings ... and select the General tab. Enter a meaningful name into the Mail Account box. This name is displayed only in Outlook (not in any outgoing emails) and can help you identify accounts, if you have multiple accounts setup.
6. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog, click Next > and click Finish to close the E-mail Accounts window.
